| Neighborhood crime
I noticed that the crime that I reported was not in the newsletter......unless I somehow missed it. I just thought the community should be aware that this happened.
I live on 1st Avenue. On the morning of July 20, 2007, we awoke to find that both of our vehicles' doors were ajar, and some things had been taken. One of these items was my $800 portable Garmin navigation system. I normally leave my truck locked, but did not lock it that night, for some reason.
I have heard that there were also a couple of incidents on 2nd avenue on the same night/morning. I am sure that it was someone just looking for unlocked vehicles.
I just thought the community should be aware, just to remind us all to keep our vehicle doors locked. I guess hoodlums can show up anywhere. :(

| Possum
I live on 4th Ave S and have a terrible problem with possum infestation. The majority of the back of my property is a wooden deck and that is where they live. I've got 3 small dogs that are obsessed with trying to get underneath the deck at them. I tried Wildlife Rescue last summer and that was an expensive ordeal which did not resolve the problem. I was heartbroken when Vernon Yates showed up at my property to pick up a trap with a possum in it. He pulled up in a big Ford 350 with steel bars around the bed and a huge, live Bengal tiger in there!

| Please Watch for Vandals!
Unfortunately, there are vandals about in our neighborhood, taking holiday decorations from yards, deflating tires at holiday party sites, and other mischief. If you ever see suspicious activity in the neighborhood, please call the police to report it. If it is a minor event, still report it by calling the community police number: 551 3183. Let's all look out for one another!

| Becoming a Bird Steward
Dave Kandz has made a slide show about the nesting birds on Egmont Key. The Egmont Key Alliance, The Friends of Tampa Bay Refuge, and the St. Pete Audobon, are always looking for volunteers to be bird stewards. To help protect the birds, and to teach why it is so important to let the birds nest on the beaches. The same beaches that we love to visit and use, especially people living in Causeway Isles that have boats and visit these islands. Of course, if you want to become a Bird Steward, this will go on until August, and do not have a boat. Email janicajohnson@tampabay.rr.com. Arrangements can be made.

| Zoysia turf grass allowed in Causeway Isles?
A good portion of my St. Augustine lawn has been destroyed by chinch bugs (I'm guessing). I'd like to replace it all with Empire Zoysia but am not sure if it's allowed in the neighborhood. If anyone has info on this please email trobinson017@gmail.com. Thanks!
